Especially in times of crisis, we think it important to recognize everybody who has helped in their own way to tackle the problems arising. Many of the Alumni of the\u00a0Aspen Young Leaders Program<\/strong>\u00a0have reacted to the current pandemic by launching new initiatives and ideas responding to the situation and demonstrating\u00a0values-based leadership in practice. <\/strong>The\u00a0Aspen Institute Central Europe\u00a0finds it of the utmost importance to continue\u00a0sharing and inspiring new and potent ideas that will help shape strategies and skills\u00a0<\/strong>that are much needed to get through the challenging times of the global COVID-19\u00a0pandemic imposed on us.<\/p>\n

On 8 April 2020<\/strong>, we organized an\u00a0Online Network Meeting<\/strong>\u00a0for Alumni to reconnect with the Aspen community and learn about\u00a0the best practices, initiatives and experience across the network, inspire one other and raise hope.<\/p>\n

About 20 professionals came together to share their views. The kick-off remarks were made by\u00a0Jan Luka\u010devi\u010d<\/b><\/a>, who launched the grassroots movement\u00a0#EnergiiL\u00e9ka\u0159\u016fm<\/b><\/a>\u00a0(Energy for Doctors) to collect food with high nutritional value and distribute it to the medical staff who are under\u00a0extreme pressure, recognizing that they need a great deal of energy and support to fight off their own fatigue and illness.<\/p>\n

The next speaker was\u00a0Robert Sov\u00edk<\/b><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>who is\u00a0the CEO and founder of\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>USA Sport&Study<\/b><\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0a development organization which helps young students realize their full potential. To continue in the students\u2019 preparation and development, Robert and his team have leveraged\u00a0their\u00a0own online tools. They are offering an online educational platform for free to educators and consultants\u00a0to create their own courses to work efficiently with their students, who are also encouraged to\u00a0spend their time more efficiently with their Academic English work and personal development.<\/p>\n

The last kick-off speaker was\u00a0Yemi A.D.<\/b><\/a>, a multi-disciplinary creative and a member of the 2019 Class of Henry Crown Fellowship within the Aspen Global Leadership Network, who talked about his\u00a0Dance Academy Prague<\/b><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>that adapted to the situation by offering their lessons online. Yemi shared the new realizations and moments\u00a0he and his team discovered while connecting with their students online from their homes. Additionally, in response to the depressing media coverage increasing panic, Yemi decided to increase hope and positive impact instead. He organized a unique two chamber interactive conference\u00a0The Anti-panic Conference<\/b><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>at which business leaders, strategists and creatives debated about positives examples in the business sphere.<\/p>\n

In the\u00a0following debate, we discussed the role of leaders in the COVID19 pandemic and how to use the momentum. Are these initiatives going to be\u00a0only short-term patches on the current situation or do\u00a0they have a transformational impact for the future?
