
Danuše Nerudová
Danuše Nerudová is a Member of the European Parliament, economist, and former rector of Mendel University in Brno. She rose to national prominence through her work on pension reform and her candidacy in the 2023 Czech presidential election, where she placed third with strong support from young voters. In 2024, she was elected to the European Parliament as the lead candidate for the Mayors and Independents. Her academic focus is on European tax policy and sustainable public finances, and she continues to lecture both in the Czech Republic and internationally. In the European Parliament, she serves on the Committee on Budgets (BUDG) and the Subcommittee on Tax Matters (FISC), and is Vice-Chair of the Delegation for Relations with the Korean Peninsula. She is also involved in the Committees on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) as a substitute member.
She is committed to improving education, with a focus on critical thinking and problem-solving, and advocates for equal opportunities for women in the labor market. She has been repeatedly listed among the most influential women in the Czech Republic by Forbes magazine.
