Jon Šotola

Jon Šotola is an educational leader and executive, overseeing the operations of 22 alternative primary and secondary schools (serving approximately 2,400 students) and driving strategic growth as a Partner and Managing Director of Scio, a company dedicated to transforming education so that it prepares students for the future. Scio employs around 600 people.

In addition to co-leading the network of schools (ScioŠkoly), which focus on fostering essential competencies to equip children for fulfilling lives, rather than prioritizing rote memorization, Scio develops and administers university entrance examinations and provides other services to schools, such as student well-being surveys, diagnostic exams, and AI tools for teachers. In addition Jon oversees Scio’s investment activities, with a recent focus on FaceUp Technology (a whistleblowing platform) and WFlow (accounting automation). His prior experience at Scio includes heading the school evaluation tools department and directing one of the company’s primary schools.

He studied mathematics, economics, and philosophy at Amsterdam University College, where he researched machine learning and its applications in macroeconomics. Jon also serves on the board of the non-profit organization Discover.
