The Aspen Institute Central Europe (AICE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tomáš Klvaňa as its new Executive Director, effective immediately. He succeeds Jakub Landovský, who stepped down to return to public service.
Tomáš Klvaňa brings a wealth of experience from the public, academic, and business sectors. He currently serves as a Visiting Professor at New York University Prague and works as a senior international consultant. His past roles include spokesman and adviser to the President of the Czech Republic, as well as Czech Government Communications Coordinator for the Missile Defense Program. Klvaňa has been a Fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School and has lived and worked in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Belgium.
As one of the founding members of Aspen Institute Central Europe, Klvaňa is deeply aligned with the organization’s mission and values, which have guided AICE’s work for over 12 years.
“I am honored and excited to return to the Aspen family in this capacity,” said Klvaňa. “Given the current challenges in transatlantic relations, Aspen’s mission—especially its role in fostering dialogue and bridging divides—has never been more important.”
Pavel Řehák, President of the Board of Directors, welcomed the appointment:
“Tomáš is a close friend of Aspen and a strong personality who embodies the values on which the Institute was built: open dialogue, leadership rooted in democratic principles, and the ability to connect people across sectors and borders. We believe he is the right person to lead Aspen into its next chapter.”
Ivan Hodáč, Founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board, echoed Řehák’s sentiment:
“In an age of disinformation, Tomáš Klvaňa’s communication expertise and personal integrity are exactly what Aspen Institute CE needs. He shares our vision of a more open and informed society.”
Under Klvaňa’s leadership, AICE will continue to focus on its core program priorities: values-based leadership, education, and strengthening the effectiveness of civil service.
“A key priority will be deepening our connections with partners across the Atlantic, while continuing to grow our programs in Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary,” Klvaňa added.
The Board of Directors, Supervisory Board, and Founders of AICE expressed their thanks to outgoing Executive Director Jakub Landovský for his service over the past year and extended their best wishes to Tomáš Klvaňa and the entire Aspen team across the region.
