Jan Farfał

JAN FARFAŁ is a historian and PhD graduate of the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies at the University of Oxford. He is currently a task force member at the Polish Council for Cooperation with Ukraine at the Office of the Prime Minister and also works as an International Affairs Specialist with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Parliament.

He previously served as Associate Director at Visegrad Insight, Research Assistant to Timothy Garton Ash, and Jerzy Giedroyc Fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna. Between 2023 and 2025, he served on the Security Track Committee of the European Forum Alpbach.
His expertise focuses on bridging history with strategic foresight, translating translating complex geopolitical challenges into actionable ideas.

His doctoral research examined Cold War–era information flows and their post-1989 legacy in Central and Eastern Europe. At Visegrad Insight, he led strategic foresight projects shaping debates on EU enlargement and European security. He also contributed to the Europe in a Changing World and Young Europeans Speak to the EU projects at the European Studies Centre in Oxford.
