Luděk Niedermayer

LUDĚK NIEDERMAYER is a Member of the European Parliament, serving as Vice-Chair of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, and a member of the Subcommittee on Tax Matters and the Delegation for relations with Japan. First elected in 2014, he was re-elected in 2019, securing the highest number of preferential votes, and again in 2024. He ranks among the leading MEPs dedicated to economic and tax policies, and actively engages in the green transition, energy, and transport agendas. Before entering politics, he served as a Director at Deloitte (2008–2014) and built a distinguished career at the Czech National Bank. Joining the CNB in 1991, he became the youngest member of its Bank Board and was twice appointed Vice-Governor by President Václav Havel (in 2000 and 2002). An active media commentator, he frequently publishes on economic and European issues in outlets like Respekt and Hospodářské noviny. Educated in Operations Research and Systems Theory at Masaryk University, he has been a TOP 09 party member since 2017. Throughout his mandate, his office has proudly hosted over a hundred interns.
