Michael Bátrla

MICHAEL BÁTRLA is a cybersecurity, compliance and AI governance professional with experience spanning defense and space, and a track record across public and private sectors. He recently joined Czech Technical University leadership team as its first ever Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Previously he was responsible for Security, GRC and AI governance in high-tech AI startups including Aisle and Rossum, as well as projects connected to the European space sector, defence or NATO. At Aisle, Michael was leading the company’s AI governance program, one of the first certified under the new ISO/IEC 42001standard in the Czech Republic. For almost five years, he has been a Research Fellow at Masaryk University’s Institute of Law and Technology, focusing on cybersecurity and public security, including research on the ransomware ecosystem, legal & compliance aspects of modern law enforcement technologies or constitutional protections for anti-pandemic technological and regulatory measures. Michael is a public speaker (e.g. at a NATO CCDCoE’s CyCon conference, security industry or legal conferences) and expert contributor on cybersecurity, AI governance, compliance, legal commentary work on the EU AI Act, NIS2 or the development of space cybersecurity industry-wide standards. He holds a Master’s degree with honours in Security and Strategy Studies and is currently pursuing an LL.M. in IT Law.
