Michael Romancov

MICHAEL ROMANCOV is a political geographer at the Institute of Political Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague. He specializes in political geography, geopolitics, and Russia. He is an alumnus of Charles University, having graduated from the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Arts, and the Faculty of Social Sciences. In addition to his current academic role at Charles University, he previously taught at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (2001–2007) within the Department of Political Science and International Relations (Faculty of Arts), and at Metropolitan University Prague (2007–2022) within the Department of International Relations and European Studies. He is a frequent commentator for both Czech public broadcasters (Czech Television and Czech Radio) and private media outlets. Recently, he has collaborated extensively with Deník N, publishing his book Námořní slepota (Sea Blindness) under its publishing label in 2022, and co-creating the podcast Romancov a spol. (Romancov & Co.) since 2024. Furthermore, he collaborates with TOPAZ, the academic think-tank of the TOP 09 political party.
