Michaela completed her BA and MA at the Faculty of War Studies at King’s College London, UK. She trained as a policy analyst at The Hague Center for Strategic Studies in the Netherlands and collaborated with the Amman-based Arab Institute for Security Studies. Following her return to Slovakia, she worked in the area of international security and development before joining an initiative to resettle refugee families from Syria and Iraq in 2015. As a result of this engagement, she co-founded and became the director of a civic association Mareena which assists refugees and migrants in the integration process and raises awareness about migration and integration. Her interests lie in designing and implementing programs that strengthen social cohesion.
