Michał Boni has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2014, Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, Member of the LIBE and AFCO Committees, and Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, Substitute Member to ITRE Committee and Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee. In 2016 he was awarded an MEP in research and innovation. He holds a PhD from the University of Warsaw, where he lectured in the Department of Polish Culture. Involved in the Solidarity underground movement since 1980, he served as Minister of Labor and Social Policy (1991), Secretary of State for labor market policy (1992–93), Chief Advisor to the Minister of Labour and Social Policy (1998–2000), Minister-Head of Strategic Advisors to Prime Minister Donald Tusk (2008–11) and Minister of Administration and Digitization of Poland (2011–13).
