Born in 1979 in Bardejov, Slovakia, Norbert has been State Secretary at Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic since April 2016. He holds an M.A. (2003) and Ph.D. (2007) from the Faculty of International Relations (University of Economics in Bratislava), majoring in international economic relations. During his academic years he underwent studies, research and training abroad e.g. Sejong University, South Korea; Gent University, Belgium; UNEP, Kenya. He started his professional career at the Ministry of Environment as EU affairs coordinator (2003-2007), then he entered the diplomatic service and worked at the Representation of Slovakia to the EU in Brussels (2007-2014). Consequently, Norbert returned to the Ministry of Environment as its Director-General, before going back to Brussels as Head of Environment and Climate Change at the Permanent Representation of Slovakia to the EU in 2016.
