Petr Hladík has several years of experience in the environmental field. In Brno, where he was responsible for environmental matters, he played a key role in initiatives such as the promotion of green roofs and rainwater harvesting. During his tenure as the First Deputy Mayor, he developed and implemented an action plan for achieving carbon neutrality in Brno. This led to projects like the installation of hundreds of solar panels, the construction of a modern automatic waste sorting line, the construction of a third boiler for energy recovery from waste or a bio-waste collection system, and the preparation for the construction of a biogas station. Thanks to these and other projects, the city received several awards, including the E.ON Energy Globe and the title of a Smart City. Petr Hladík is the Vice-Chairman for the Environment of the KDU-ČSL and was involved in preparing the government’s policy statement in this area.
