Lieutenant-General Vladimír Vlček is one of the most experienced representatives of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic (FRS CR). He was appointed to the rank of Brigadier Lieutenant-General by the President of the Czech Republic on 8 May 2022. His strongest quality is a wide range of theoretical knowledge combined with the necessary practical experience gained in various positions he has held at the district and regional corps, as well as at both national and international levels. In his work, General Vlček combines a technical way of thinking with excellent organizational and management skills. He strives for a systemic approach to problem solving throughout the Corps, which is a quality useful for the entire Security Corps, especially during implementations of new systemic steps on the nationwide level. His experience is invaluable to the Corps. Since mid-2021, General Vlček has held the highest position in the Corps – Director General of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. Within the Corps, he has a natural authority and is considered a leading expert in fire protection and the integrated rescue system. General Vlček also places an emphasis on the development of cooperation and outstanding relations with volunteer firefighters, local government and other entities within the IRS CR. Last but not least, he has significantly contributed to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 – both within the FRS CR and the Czech Republic as a whole. General Vlček is one of the leading coordinators of the activities related to the migration wave that has followed the outbreak of the war conflict in Ukraine. He was also actively involved in coordinating the fire extinguishing works during the recent large forest fire in the Czech Switzerland National Park.
