Anna is a journalist, social psychologist, community builder and retired scout leader. When in the process of completing her Master’s degree, the university advised her to “stick to her field of social psychology”. As the tuition fees she paid did not cover extracurricular journalism courses at the media faculty, she did not follow their advice. The pandemic hit just months later and she had close to no writing experience. With no possibility to network during the lockdown, she sent approximately 150 pitches to VICE, The Guardian and Al Jazeera. After two months, she was freelancing for all three of these media outlets. In 2021, Anna became a fellow with the data journalism team at Czech Radio, where she currently works as a full time reporter focusing on psychiatry, the coercive sterilization of Roma women and the brave people of Ukraine.
