Since 2020, Márton has worked at the Secretariat-General of the European Commission, coordinating briefings for President Von der Leyen and her vice presidents, after spending 4 years as the head of strategic communications at the Commission’s Joint Research Centre. Previously, he worked as a spokesperson for the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and for the Hungarian Permanent Representation to the EU, and as case handler in the Financial Crisis Task Force of DG Competition. He is co-founder of the EU Negotiation Moot Association, which organises EU decision making simulations for university students, and he is a mentor and supporter at the European Leadership Programme.
Having built a wide network among Brussels-based media and the EU institutions since his arrival in Brussels in 2005, he has a solid understanding of EU affairs and EU decision making, and is able to bridge the gap between experts and various audiences to convey complex messages.
After completing a BSc and MSc in economics and finance in his native Hungary, Márton took up behavioural economics at the Universität Mannheim and also spent a semester at Georgetown University in the US, studying public affairs. He speaks English and Hungarian.
