Robert Plaga, PhD, the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, was born in 1978 in the South Moravian town of Ivančice. He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Economics of Mendel University in Brno, where he also taught between 2002 and 2013. From 2013 to 2015 he held the position of Director of the Technology Transfer Center and was appointed Deputy Minister of Education for Higher Education, Science and Research in 2015. He was appointed the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports on 13 December 2017. Before assuming the Minster’s office, he was a city councilor of Brno.
