Martin Gembec is a Czech astronomer, astrophotographer, and passionate science communicator. Fascinated by the night sky from an early age, he began observing and photographing celestial events as a teenager. In 1999, he launched his own astronomy website, sharing images and reflections on the universe. Since 2009, he has been a regular contributor to astro.cz, the main public outreach portal of the Czech Astronomical Society. Gembec specializes in nightscape astrophotography, capturing planets, comets, and the Milky Way over the Czech landscape. Since 2019, he has served as head of the planetarium at the iQLANDIA science center in Liberec, where he helps engage the public and inspire young minds in science and astronomy. He is also the vice-chair of the Liberec Astronomical Club, a regional branch of the Czech Astronomical Society, organizing public observing events and lectures. In September 2023, he was awarded the “Czech Astrophotograph of the Month” for his striking image of comet C/2023 P1 (Nishimura).
