Jana Hlaváčová

JANA HLAVÁČOVÁ is a patient advocate and co-founder of the patient involvement agenda at the Czech Ministry of Health. As a law graduate, she began her career at the Association for International Affairs and went on to hold various positions in the human rights sector. Following her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis, she became actively involved in patient advocacy.

In 2016, she joined the Ministry of Health, where she helped establish a formal patient involvement agenda. She co-founded a new unit and a system for patient participation and support of patient organizations, ensuring that patients have a voice in shaping healthcare policies.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served on emergency response teams, primarily focused on vaccination strategy. Shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, she coordinated the creation of a system to deliver humanitarian aid—specifically medical supplies—from Czechia to Ukraine.

She currently works in the Ministry’s Section for Legislature and Legal Affairs, focusing on topics such as clinical trials, health technology assessment (HTA), the healthcare workforce, and the role of AI in healthcare.

Jana is also active in the European Multiple Sclerosis Platform in Brussels, currently serving as an external policy advisor and previously as interim CEO.
